PowerPoint File Parsing Vulnerability. Read More

Pwdump3 is a Windows NT/2000 remote password hash grabber. It combines the functionality of Pwdump by Jeremy Allison and pwdump2 by Todd Sabin. It can extract the password hashes from a remote Windows NT 4.0 or 2000 box whether or not syskey has been installed.

Securityteam.com:
Modified images can lead to JavaScript/VBScript execution in AIM.
AOL Instant Messenger has the ability to embed images into an instant message. The user sends the graphic to the person they wish to show, and the graphic shows up on their screen. However, if the graphic is not a valid image then an icon will be displayed showing the file type (i.e., if you send an invalid jpeg image, then the icon will show ".JPG"). Due to improper HTML parsing it is possible to cause the AIM program to embed malicious JavaScript/VBScript inside a locally saved HTML that when later viewed would be executed with higher than normal privileges (since it will be running as a local script).
The bug occurs in the way that the images are handled by AIM when they are saved in chat conversations.
The images are saved in a the following format:
<BINARY><STYLE><DATA ID="1" SIZE="66">Data that would be inside a GIF</DATA></BINARY>
If you were to send an HTML file which included malicious JavaScript/VBScript code with a image extension that started with </DATA></STLE></BINARY>, then the code would be executed if logs of the conversation were saved and viewed with the default browser. One could also embed a web bug, Java applet, etc.

Where There's Smoke, There's Mirrors: The Truth about Trojan Horses on the Internet. Read More

News:
Trojans can block ZoneAlarm by setting a Mutex in memory.
ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm Pro can be stopped from loading by creating a memory-resident Mutex (using a call to the CreateMutex API). Uninstalling\reinstalling ZoneAlarm in a different path has no effect. The impact of this vulnerability is that a Trojan running on a victim's machine can prevent ZoneAlarm from loading, and thus leave the victim open for attack.
Exploit:
A Trojan can easily set this Mutex ("Zone Alarm Mutex") with one simple call to the CreateMutex API (see <http://msdn.microsoft.com> msdn.microsoft.com for more information on Mutexes). ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm Pro are then prevented from loading as long as the Trojan is alive. If ZoneAlarm is running, all the Trojan has to do is terminate the processes of zonealarm.exe, vsmon.exe and minilog.exe first before creating the Mutex. Despite being services, vsmon.exe and minilog.exe can both be killed by any program by setting its local process token privileges to SeDebugPrivilege, giving it the power to kill any process/service.
Demonstration:
A harmless, simple, working executable to demonstrate the vulnerability, is available at: <http://www.diamondcs.com.au/alerts/zonemutx.exe>

Trojan Security monitors 12 different ports where Trojans are known to be installed. When an intruder attempts to connect to the port, Trojan Security alerts you and relays information about the attack and the attacker. It also disconnects the intruder. The new version has fixed a few flaws in the previous release.

URGENT
MegaSecurity needs a new host.
We have been growing fast since april last year. But now we use to much bandwidth to be able to stay on the current host.
Very fast we need a host that gives us at least 10-15 GB transfer a month to start with. At the moment we have 800 MB HD on the server.
We have to find a new host in short time, so we can keep MegaSecurity the way it is and become better in the future.
For now we will have to diminish the daily new uploads.
If no solution is found in the near future for hosting, we have to give up MegaSecurity.
I hope somebody can help us out. Please e-mail to [email protected]
